CLAIRE WOOTTEN

Instructor at Dancing With Parkinson’s and Dance Class Collective

Claire is a semi-retired dance educator joyfully engaged at the intersection of dance and health. For the past 9 years, she has been an instructor with Dancing with Parkinson’s Canada, which offers free movement classes for those living with Parkinson’s Disease and all seniors. She recently completed the Teacher Certification for Dance for PD® offered through the Mark Morris Dance Group in Brooklyn, NY. Claire is also a certified instructor of 3-D WorkoutTM, an integrated fitness program based on the work of Bartenieff and Laban, developed by Dr. Dianne Woodruff. A graduate of the Teacher Training Program at Canada’s National Ballet School, Claire holds an MA in Dance (York). She taught at York University’s Department of Dance for nearly 3 decades, specializing in contemporary ballet and dance education. When not teaching, Claire can be found working on Argentine tango figures or practicing fills on her electronic drum kit.

LAINIE MAGIDSOHN

Lainie Magidsohn (she/her) is a dancer, mover, choreographer, collaborator, improviser, and teacher. She brings a lifetime of dance and a wide variety of movement practices and styles to her rich, contagious, joyful, expressive, playful classes. She loves sharing what she does and strives to create a safe space for movers of all ages, abilities, bodies and genders to engage with their own unique dance. For ten years, Lainie danced with Village Folk, an international folk dance group, and is currently a dancer, choreographer, and executive member of the Toronto-based community dance company, PushPULL. As an instructor with Dancing With Parkinson's in Toronto and across Canada online, Lainie is committed to promoting dance for all bodies. Outside of her life in dance, Lainie is also a wedding and lifecycle officiant, a life drawing model, and a parent. She has been involved in Equity & Diversity work with a number of different organizations and thrives on the opportunity to engage in Courageous Conversations whenever possible.
